Presenting the life of two gay men who are in love, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan describe their struggle to convince their families to accept the relationship. Box office
Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan net earned ₹ 9.55 crore at the domestic box office on its first day. On the second day, the film collected ₹ 11.08 crore. On the third day, the film collected ₹ 12.03 crore taking the total collection of weekend ₹ 32.66 crore.
At the February 27, 2020, with a revenue of ₹ 53.38 crore in India and ₹ 6.48 crore abroad, the film has a worldwide revenue of ₹ 59.86 collection crore.
Review
Pallabi Dey Purkayastha Times of India praised the deal, writing that “if Ayushmann highjacks the film with his infectious energy, a soft Jitendra balances it with his humor deadpan and relatability factor that maintains throughout the film” and “it is noteworthy that to how well the support team makes full support (and power) to the pair of conductors” while the criticism that “since the movie is mainly invested in the drama of small town belonging to the taboo around relationships of the same sex, the writer-director does not touch on the unique items for small cities like Allahabad “and that” although the first half is attractive, the second half loses its luster fairly soon and could have been cut by a good 20 minutes’.
Anupama Chopra’s companion film said, “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan wants to be both – .. A passionate defense of love of the same sex as well as a family entertainer, but writing can not be combined to perfection the disparate elements ”
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV proclaimed that “flights of comic fantasy does not always take direction or the right land without problems, but with the players who go all out to make the film work, some parts of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan are genuinely funny and quirky. the film can be erratic in some parts, but its entertainment quotient is deliciously high for a film to deal with a clash between conservatism and freedom, between tradition and modernity. ”
